Knowledge:
My knowledge of creating, editing, matting, and framing art work for exhibition is unique. I understand from experience the entire creative process, from start to finish.
While working with post-graduate Fine Art students at ICP, I gained experience hosting the Opening of a Student Exhibition. I choose the gallery space in NYC, designed the invitation, assisted with writing the press release, and managed the catering for 500 visitors.
I also conducted drop-in Portfolio Reviews for students wishing to take classes at ICP, further developing my ability to understand and refine an artists oeuvre.
Strength:
My strength as an artist lies in the expressive line and interesting use of mixed media. My preferred subject matter is portraiture, including self portraiture, and while the result might not be entirely technically accurate, the emotive message is clear. It is more important to me as an artist to convey a message, describe something expressively and with power, than to have a "perfect" rendition.

Paintings: Oil on Canvas
My preferred medium is painting. I have experience working from observation, plein air, photographs, live figure models, and imagination. Materials that I most frequently use are acrylic paint on paper, but also include charcoal, raw pigment, pen, graphite, collaged materials, and oil sticks. I have experience using both watercolor techniques and washes, as well as oil paint on canvas.

Most of my personal artwork begins with a drawing. Throughout my academic and professional career, I've experience in contour drawing, still life and observational drawing, landscapes, architecture, life drawing, drawing using photography, and of course drawing from imagination. Materials that I"m comfortable with include graphite, charcoal, Conte crayon, oil and chalk pastels, pen, marker, oil sticks and even "invented" materials including linseed oil mixed with kitchen spices.

Experience in printing techniques include silver gelatin, C-41 color, Type 55 Polaroid, Van Dyke brown, cyanotypes, and Liquid Light. Within Digital photography, I've used most camera formats and manipulated the results using both PhotoShop, Aperture, and iPhoto. I have experience in spotting, editing, matting and framing photographs for exhibition as well.

Ceramics: Hand-built using a mold and vessels thrown on a potters wheel.
Over the course of my academic career, I've taken many classes in Ceramics, at both the Undergraduate and Graduate level. I'm familiar with terra-cotta and porcelain clays, and have learned hand-building and surface techniques, throwing on a wheel, building and using a plaster mold, and alternative firing techniques, including Raku.
