Grade 4 Students visiting a local photography studio, as a part of their unit How We Express Ourselves. Before the visit, I gave the students a quick introduction to cyanotypes and during the visit, they made their own cyanotype print. I helped chaperone the visit and, using my photography background, helped explain how a film camera works and what happens in a darkroom.

Primary students go on a Field Trip to the DP Art Exhibition and complete a "scavenger hunt" in which they need to practice their observational skills and notice details in the student artwork.
Guest Speakers:
Visitors to my classroom include people working professionally in the Arts including commercial photographer, Will Faller, as well as former colleagues at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. By giving students the opportunity to speak with someone working in the Arts, they are able to fully comprehend the role that art plays in society and how art is applied in "real world" settings.
