Field Trips & Guest Speakers

Field Trips:
Recent trips include a visit to a local part so that students could study and draw the play of light and shadow on tress and bushes, while utilizing specially ordered drawing boards. Other have included trips to museums, including the Hudson River Museum and the Ho Chi Minh Museum of Fine Art, where students have observed the exhibitions and participated in thoughtful discussions.

Primary students go on a Field Trip to the DP Art Exhibition and complete a "scavenger hunt" in which they need to practice their observational skills and notice details in the student artwork.
Guest Speakers:
Visitors to my classroom include people working professionally in the Arts including commercial photographer, Will Faller, as well as former colleagues at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. By giving students the opportunity to speak with someone working in the Arts, they are able to fully comprehend the role that art plays in society and how art is applied in "real world" settings.
